Abstract:This study estimates the distance between our country and global science centers from both perspectives of country-level and city (region)-level with scientometrics and social network analysis methods based on the data published in the World’s Top Journals of Cell, Nature and Science during the period of 2010-2019. The result shows that, both “Quantity Distance” and “Quality Distance” between China and the United States are shrinking rapidly, but the “Quality Distance” is still large. China is still at a relatively marginal position in the global scientific network, and recommendations for improving the current situation have been raised accordingly.
