Abstract:This paper examines the impact of executive team heterogeneity on corporate digital transformation using a sample of A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2008-2019. It finds that executive team age heterogeneity is negatively associated with corporate digital transformation, while education background heterogeneity, career background heterogeneity, and overseas background heterogeneity are positively associated with corporate digital transformation. Executive team heterogeneity affects digital transformation mainly through the quality of information disclosure, financial debt leverage, willingness to innovate, and ability to innovate.
