After a decade of construction and development since the 18th CPC National Congress, to systematically sort out and periodically summarize relevant practices of new-type think tank with Chinese characteristics is imperative. In terms of development process, the construction of new-type think tank started in year2012 and can be divided into three stages with year 2015 and 2019 as the boundaries. The new pattern of development of new-type think tank has been constructed through the stages of rule-making, classified development, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement. In this process, the characteristics of party building, science and technology integration, media support highlights. However, there are still concerns need further clarification, which focus on three issues: independence, revolving door and think tank evaluation. At present, the new-type think tank with Chinese characteristics has entered a new stage of high-quality development. In the next step of think tank research and practice, we should adhere to the correct political direction, the core capacity building, the diverse integration of talent team, the innovation vitality of think tanks, and the theoretical system building of think tank evaluation.
