Abstract:Towns are the key link of urban and rural system in China. Based on the concept of sustainable development, town heritages which have significant active state characteristics have dual value system including both historical heritage and social resources. Under this framework, this paper mainly discusses the conservation and management practices of traditional town. From the reality of management conditions generally faced by the town, this paper discriminates the impacts of management rights, ownership and use rights on towns, and also deduces common measures of traditional town in social governance, economic guidance and settlement management, and finally attemptes to construct the system of measures for traditional town protection and sustainable development, which is expected to provide references for the protection and sustainable development of excellent town heritages in the process of new urbanization and rural revitalization.
