Abstract:Focusing on land and seed, two key points to ensure grain security, using household survey data from fixed observation points in rural areas across the country, taking wheat and corn crops, conservation tillage and high-quality seed technologies as examples, this paper empirically tested the influence of agricultural labor aging on the technology adoption of grain farmers. The study found that aging of the agricultural labor force has a significant negative impact on the adoption of conservation tillage and high quality seeds by wheat farmers and conservation tillage by corn farmers. The negative effects are greater among wheat and corn farmers who are large or located in major producing areas. The rural household type of social service subjects can alleviate part of the negative impact of aging on technology adoption, but the cooperative type of social service subjects can not play a significant role in alleviating the situation, and there is a lack of close connection with the elderly agricultural labor force. On this basis, policy suggestions are made in terms of unblocking agricultural land transfer channels, strengthening the application of new technology promotion, and promoting high-quality development of agricultural socialized services.
