Abstract:In 2024, the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) adopted the world’s first multilateral mechanism dedicated to regulating the benefit-sharing from the use of digital sequence information on genetic resources (DSI), which embodies the modern concept of international law of fair and equitable benefit-sharing. The adoption of this multilateral mechanism may have potential implications for Chinese DSI stakeholders. It is recommended that China accelerate the construction of a synergistic governance working mechanism for DSI and formulate management measures for the benefit-sharing from the use of DSI.
