At present,Chinese family firms are at a critical period of development e xperiencing transformations in technology,institution,manageme nt and culture after 20years since th e implementation of reform and open policies.From the viewpoint combin ing the cultural characteristics wi th the economic ones,this paper analyses the general characteristics and growth patterns of family firms in China,an d uses some examples to illustrate th e four types of growth patterns.
