Digital earth is proposed to be an open and integrated system.This paper d iscusses the contents and characteristics of digital earth after a brief introduction to its background.Then it analyses the current s tatus of digital city,as well as the interrelationships between digital city and digital earth.Finally,the paper tries to find out the impetus the development strategies of digital earth will give to the d evelopment of a city.
