An industrialized meteorological service constitutes an important innovation challenging the public good nature of the traditional meteorological service system.Such innovation will inevitably touch both technical and non-technical issues in turning scientific knowledge into daily productivity.To fully tap up meteorological ser-vice resources in a new economic environment ,it is imperative to accelerate the industrialization of China's me-teorological service,including restructuring the meteorological service,developing meteorological information and engineering services,and creating a meteorological equipment manufacturing industry.All these efforts will make meteorological service in line with the needs of the market economy.
