China has taken food safety as an important issue in the Middle and Long Term Science and Technology Planning.Generally speaking, developed countries started to concentrate on tackling the issue of food safety much earlier than developing countries and have accumulated rich experience in this connection.This paper focuses on making a comprehensive analysis and a survey of food safety legislations, monitor systems, management patterns and genetically modified food (GMF) managements in U.S.A, Japan, European Union, and Canada.This paper is expected to be helpful to the establishment of a food safety management system in our country.
