From a social embeddedness perspective,this paper analyzes the potential influence of interlocking directorates and corporate network of directorship interlocks on corporate governance and corporate performance.The corporate interlock network exerts its influence mainly by three functioning mechanisms: social supervision,network rent seeking and collective interests overriding individual interests.Finally,the paper also addresses the implication of this research and future potential research directions.
