Abstract:The paper investigates the trend of regional income disparity and environmental degradation in the rapid economic growth of China. It has been proved that environmental degradation is not the necessary result of the growing income disparity. And it is probably that the growing income disparity might prevent the more serious environmental degradation in a certain stage of economical development. The paper also analyzes the impact of economic policy measures on ecology and environment, including the policies for reducing the regional disparity such as the policy of poverty alleviation. In the end, the intervention policy on regional income disparity is proposed from the perspective of protection on the ecology and environment.
