The task of promoting the public science literacy is not only to endow all the people with basic science literacy, but also to construct a learning society for all so as to facilitate everyone to improve his science literacy endlessly. Promoting the public science literacy has become the common recognition to the whole world. However the status about public science literacy in China are low and unbalanced. So we argue that, from the viewpoint of building a well-off society in an all-round way, promoting the public science literacy is an emergent and arduous strategic task.
