Based on the concept that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is belong to academic medicine and the significant role it has played in the treatment against SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), the situation of TCM in AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) therapy that civilian herbalist doctor used in the epidemic area and the challenge that TCM has encountered currently have been studied in this paper. It showed that such treatments have gained positive achievements and there's a broad prospect for TCM being a valid method to treat AIDS. But some challenges exist, such as we neglect TCM's own standards, epidemic legislations go against TCM's taking part in AIDS treatment. Enhancing the development of TCM should be a national strategy for the sake of the healthcare of 1.3 billions Chinese.
