Senior scientific talents, such as members of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), are famous scholars who have made systematical and original achievements in scientific and technological field; senior technological talents, such as members of Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE), are scholars who have made significant and creative contribution in engineering area. Although both of them are senior talents, the fields on which they focus are different, and the factors influencing their success are different. This paper investigated more than 800 CAS members and more than 600 CAE members and analyzed the different factors and otherness impacting on their success based on the comparative analysis between them. The authors intended to explore the deep rule hidden in senior talents' growing factors. To senior scientific talents and senior technological talents, common rules exist in the process of their development, while the difference is also obvious. Cultivating senior scientific talents depends mainly on comprehensive and key university and great master; and science and engineering university and social experience play a more important role in the process of cultivating senior technological talents.
