The questionnaire survey report of farmers' organizations development in China shows that the village party branches and the village committees are more influential than any other farmers' political organizations and they are the key channels for voicing out the needs and protecting the rights and interests of farmers. In addition, implementing various policies that promoting village self-government is an important component of developing basic-level democracy in rural areas. Though rural development demonstrates strong regional disparity, most farmers realize that it is necessary to develop social service organizations and economic cooperatives. Frequent violation of farmers' rights, land rights in particular, shows that farmers need to establish their own organizations to safeguard their rights and interests.
