The academic circle and industry circle have produced a lot of theoretic and empirical achievements concerning core industry selection,in which the major research thoughts,methods,criteria are derived from comparative advantage theory,industry link theory,economic growth theory et al.The above-mentioned research methods need to be supported by a large amount of data concerning the industry development;therefore,they can hardly be applied in the underdeveloped regions of West China.On the basis of comparative advantage theory and competitive advantage theory,this paper sets up the core industry selection model,proposes evaluation criteria system and model calculation approach,and makes an empirical research.
