Taking Shenzhen as an example,this paper analyzes population and policy evolution,and institutional social support to immigrants,then analyzes the situation of non-institutional social support and social integration for rural mi- grant workers by using the data from 2005 rural migrant worker survey in Shenzhen,conducted by Institute for Popula- tion and Development Studies at Xi'an Jiaotong University.It reveals that the majority of rural migrants' social contacts are blood and origin bonds;they seldom receive support from host government,society or communities;they have not integrated into host society and are relatively isolated from urban citizens.This paper also put forward objects of policy reform as well as relevant suggestions and measures for improving social integration of rural migrants.
