Poverty alleviation development is the common mission facing the whole mankind. Assisting the poverty - stricken areas to shake off poverty and become rich is an important way for China to build a harmonized socialist society. Through the investigation of 31 WFP assisted projects in 18 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions throughout the country, this paper systematically analyses the benefits and experience obtained from the projects assisted by the World Food Program during its intervention in China for the last 26 years, and points out the problems occurred and lessons drawn from the project implementation. Finally, it proposes valuable enlightenment for the new round of poverty alleviation development program in China.
