This paper analyzes the competitive situation of technology resource in the multinational pharmaceutical companies by analyzing the nature of innovation activities and resources coompetion.It is considered that innovation in pharmaceutical fields is different from other manufactures for that the activities are rather non-liner and non-consistence in nature,highly dependent upon basic research and development,therefore,the innovation is more feasible to patent data based studies and also chanllages the corresponding national innovation system.The paper provides a statistical method with two important concepts of benchmark,named degree of technology scope and degree of technology convergence to study the patent data in pharmaceutical fields.It puts forward the development characters of patent technology resources in China of some typical country's pharmaceutical companies,especially of US company.It also contrastively analyzes the distribution characters and development tendency of technology resources in multinational pharmaceutical companies in China,and supplys references to the policy and competitive strategy for national relative industries.
