The ecological health,protection and utilization of the water-level-fluctuating-zone will be a serious environmental problem after the completion of the Three Gorges Project.There will be four possible utilization or protection models for the water-level-fluctuating zone: directly utilization model,ecological reservation model,ecological utilization model,waterlevel-fluctuating-zone protection model.Different model has close relation to the development tendency of ecological health of the zone.In the paper,four models are analyzed and an ecological health evaluation indicator system is built based on the ecological health concept.This evaluation system involves indicators in three groups: 1) structural indicators 2) functional indicators 3) environmental indicators.With the indicator system,the impacts of the four models on the water-level-fluctuating zone are predicted and evaluated.
