Knowledge - intensive business service is developing in full swing and playing an increasingly important role in innovation systems. Though it caused great concern in the theory and practice circles, the conception and classification of KIBS so far has failed to reach a consensus. This paper sorts out the conceptions of KIBS and defines the meaning of knowledge - intensive business service. Based on the discussion of classification dimensions, it also puts forward a specific classification.
