The frequency of radical technological changes is increasing, but dominant finns often fail drastically and are displaced by new entrants. Drawing on the radical technological change initiated by digital technology in imaging industry, this study reveals the process of creative destruction, examines the ways of dominant finns adapting to technological change from the perspectives of technological investment and technical capabilities, and highlights the importance of considering multiple perspectives when examining the competitive implications of technological change.
