The consumers' surplus is calculated and analyzed for Chinese telecommunications market based on constant elasticity Marshallian demand functions.It is showed that there has been a durative increase in consumers' surplus in Chinese telecommunications market since 1998,which demonstrates a huge efficient success from the market reforms.The mobile telephone market is the first source of that consumers' surplus increase,and the second is the value-added telecommunications market,when the fixed telephone markets,by contraries,decrease the consumers' surplus in latest years.The results suggest that the direction of reforms in Chinese telecommunications market must be oriented onto the fixed telephone markets in order to step up the market efficiency ahead in the future.
