The great scientific breakthroughs, emerging fields of research and even new disciplines usually come from penetration and integration of different disciplines. That is to say the interdisciplinary research is full of scientific innovation. The paper studies the factors of affecting interdisciplinary research outcome using the Becker-Murphy model, and further analyzes the coordination costs that affect interdisciplinary research outcome. It also discusses the situation of management mechanisms on interdisciplinary research. The study demonstrates that reducing coordination costs would promote interdisciplinary research.
